The Broadway Musical Hamilton By Lin Manuel Miranda

Oftentimes people have a difficult time connecting with history. They do not see the relevance between something hundreds of years ago and today’s issues. The Broadway musical Hamilton by Lin-Manuel Miranda does a great job of bridging that gap. Many of the issues that were faced in the time period of Alexander Hamilton are also faced in the world today. An example of this is politicians riding the fence on important issues. A main character in the play is criticized greatly for doing this just as people are currently. In Miranda’s Hamilton, characters are faced with issues and are asked to take a stand just as political leaders are today. Hamilton had a rough childhood and did not have many opportunities where he came from. His family, friends, and neighbors decided that he needed to go to the mainland to get an education. It was then that he was able to make a name for himself and he began to climb the social and political ladders. If Hamilton would have stayed in his hometown he would not have been able to do anything that he accomplished in his life. The world we live in today is having to make similar decisions. With the Olympics going on currently, viewers are learning many new facts about athletes from around the world. Andre De Grasse, for example, is originally from Ontario Canada.
